I realise these days that ppl dont have to have a particular reason to blog. Its like the diaries from the 1980's isnt it? Except that the diaries we wrote were hidden under mattresses or on tops of cupboards. Now we publish them on the internet for everyone to see. Hmmmm. I guess this can be as anonymous as you want if you dont tell anyone. Or you could tell your friends, but why would you do that?
I suppose my thoughts here are as such: If you aren't sharing terrible medical problems or raising money or swapping knitting patterns etc (and please if anyone reads this I am by no means disparaging what you awesome ppl do) then what are you doing writing a blog? Is it feeding your own ego? Is it a way to put down in words the crap or good day you had? Do you just blog when your happy? Sad? Pissed (lol)? Why do you blog? Why do I blog?
Here and there I just wanna get it all out. Guess thats my reason.
Over and out

It worked
Ok ppl, just a quick update to let you know that the Safe and Sound brand does indeed work on Singapore Airlines. Take the letter that says its ok, the guy at check in studied mine intensely.
The flights however were the typical nightmare! The lady and her husband tutting away as the baby screamed the first two hours of each flight (of which there were 4) But a great holiday in all so why bitch?
Hope someone gets something from this blog, as I am trying to be helpful : )

Hopefully Helpful
I am flying to Bangkok on Singapore Airlines next Friday. With 3 kids...1, 6, and 8 ( and a 32 yr old too...)
It turns out you need a particular kind of car seat when you are flying with an under 2 yr old on his/her own seat. I am in Australia.....The airline will only give me english brand seats as approved car seats. After 3 frustrating calls to Singapore Airlines I had narrowed it down to one car seat that I can buy in Australia. Bear in mind I already have 2 car seats and 2 cars. I don't want 3 car seats truly. Unless I get a brand new car in the mail tomorrow. After many calls with people in Singapore that didn't quite get my drift, I gave up and called the manufacturers of the car seat that is approved. They were enormously helpful.
I am trying to put in google hot words for all the people going through what I did so here goes:
Question: What kind of car seat can I have when flying with Singapore Airlines?
Answer: Only the Britax brand. It is called Safe and Sound here and available from independant baby stores ( like babyco..) email www.britax.com.au for a customer service line. These guys are sooooo helpful.
Question: Can I fly with my car seat?
Answer: Probably not. Check with the airline...last thing you want is to be turned away at check in time.............
Question: How can I find out if my baby seat is FAA approved?
Answer: For a start FAA is US based. So to get a car seat in Australia to be FAA endorsed is practically impossible. Buy or hire a Safe and Sound brand. Be sure it is less that 40cm on the plastic base and contact www.Britax.com.au for an aeroplane endorsement email. That should get you through.
I have to point out that I have just found all this out and I dont fly out till next Friday. So I will post an update when I get back.
In summary: In Brisbane flying with Singapore Airlines please use a Britax seat ( Safe and sound) Must be less than 40cm on the base. See above website and chat to the truly great people. Catherine helped me...say thanks on the recommendation.
Helpful?? maybe
